Nintendo doubles the bits!

Whilst every other competitor was falling over itself to get more and more consoles, add-ons and new technology onto the scene Nintendo in their traditional arrogant way decided to sit back and wait to see if this new CD-ROM format was going to take off.

After watching Sega, Phillips, 3DO and others struggle to convince gamers of the new tech they pushed on with development of a new 64-Bit console capable of amazing 3D graphics with huge amounts of texture detail. Power was the way forward not format.

Sticking with the cartridge media for near instant loading speeds meant sacrificing some of the new emerging gaming standards such as massive FMV sequences but Nintendo knew better...

Lean how to experience Ultra-64 power...

Download the emulator and extract it to an easy to find location of your convenience (Please note, there are some installers for PJ64 which will flag up your antivirus. Read the comments on any download site to make sure that you're getting is clean). I'd recommend searching for 'PJ64 clean install.'

Some installations come without the plugins, To check if the one you downloaded has it or not check the plugins folder, if it does then run the emulator. If it doesn't have the plugins then we need to download some plugins for use with the emulator; download 'Jabo DX plugin.' Extract the files to the plugins directory.

After you have finished extracting Double click on the Project64 executable.

Next go to options and then settings. This is where you tell the emulator all the little things, the first screen allows you to disable screensavers when the emulator is running or pause automatically if the window isn't active.

It is also where you will configure the controller in order to allow you to actually play the games.

The next screen allows you to configure the folders that the emulator needs, I'd recommend leaving this as the default.

The next screen allows you to choose what plugins are used by the emulator for running the games.

Click ok once you have finished all of this.
